After years of being second best and soon forgotten I have learned that love for me is often in glimpses and moments. It typically doesn’t stay around for enough time to be considered “long term”. That phrase has never been assosiated with me and the word incompatible comes to mind whenever it is brought up.

Understand, It has never been that I am afraid of commitment, but the people that I love never want to truly commit to me.

And is that my fault?

Do I unknowlingly do something that makes people love the thought of me in the beginning but fear being with me for longer than a few moments?

You see, I have learned how to whisper beauty into a lovers ear, I have learned how to grasp happiness in their hands, I have learned how to caress their bodies softly until the only sound they can make are praises and curses underneath their breath.

But does it mean anything if they don’t stay through the morning?

I have learned to show them their beauty and how to make sure they are taken care of.

For some I have sat through life tragedies and been a shoulder to cry on. Only to watch them leave me for others. I have learned to be a good lover, partner, friend.. but even with all of that, I still haven’t learned how to convince people to stay.

- And I don’t understand how most men are proud of relationships like these, because at the end of the day don’t we all just want to be loved?
